Just a “stone’s throw” from Springfield is Benld Illinois, You are probably thinking what is going on there? Well! It is the location for Coal Country Chamber of Commerce’s the Tour de Coal!
The Tour de Coal is for riders of all ages and abilities who have an interest in cycling in the Macoupin County, Illinois area.
The ride will be held in conjunction with the Annual Fall Festival held at the Benld Civic Center.
If you are headed to the Tour de Coal, be sure to stop by and get your bike tuned-up before you head out!
It’s the time of year that for Springfield weekly newspaper; The Illinois Times. starts collecting ballots for their Best of Springfield 2013 survey!
There are many questions on the survey relating to the “best ofs” in the city of Springfield. Vote for Ace Bicycle Shop in the “Shopping Local” category! Vote online at the link below or fill out a ballot in the most recent issue of The Illinois Times and submit it to one of their offices. Voting will end on September 30th.

Get your bike tuned up before the race! Our basic tune-up will adjust your front and rear brakes, check your gear shifting, make any front/rear wheel adjustments (including truing), lubricate the chain and any other minor adjustments.

This Sunday is the Capital City Century Ride which marks the unofficial end of the “summer” biking season.
Starting this Sunday (9/8) we will be closed on Sunday. We are still open throughout the week to assist you will all of your cycling needs. Monday-Friday 9:00-6:00 and Saturday 9:00-4:00.
There is still plenty of time to get out and enjoy the fall weather and scenery, so get out and ride…we will see you on the trails!
If you haven’t registered already there is still time! The Capital City Century is one great ride, with several routes to choose from; including a 10 mile family run, that is led by local cyclist and magician Jim “Magic” Percy.

If you have already registered (Awesome, BTW, you are going to have a blast!), there is still time to get a tune-up before the big ride. With the tune-up (as with most repairs) we will have you ready to go the next day.
PS: The food stops along the route and at the after party are AMAZING! I have it on good authority there will be 220 pounds of fish for the after party!
